October 18 -- Dear Friends and Family

Dear Friends and family:

We are very excited to make all of you aware of our decision to adopt. As many of you know we have felt the call to adopt for about 3 years now, but we were unsure of where or how. We originally thought China or somewhere in Asia would be where we would adopt from. We knew people who had adopted from there, and we loved their kids, and thought that it could work.
Well God had other plans! This summer God made it clear to us that we should adopt from Liberia in west Africa. This was never even a thought to us originally, but God works in great ways! We are so excited to adopt a little girl from this country and bring her into the love of the Waite and LeBoeuf families.

First, here is some history on Liberia. Liberia is a land full of poverty and disease, and yet it is a beautiful place full of natural resources. There is no running water or electricity for the average Liberian, but if you can afford a generator and the fuel to run it, you can have electricity. Sience 87% of the population lives in utter poverty, they have learned to live without both.

Liberia is the size of the state of Tennessee (USA) and 47% of the population is made up of children under the age of 18! Many of the older Liberians have been killed in a 20 year war which ended only recently.

Most women in Liberia can not read or write. Many are plunged into a hard life from birth and end up becoming unwed mothers, who can not care for their own. The life expectancy for a woman is 41 years of age. Most men live to 39, and live a life of great suffering.

We would ask for prayer during this process for the following specifics:

1. To prepare the way for our little daughter. This is a long, tedious process and there are a lot of factors to consider and hoops to jump through. May God make this as seamless as possible.

2.To prepare the heart of our new little daughter to come to a country and be part of a family that she doesn't yet know.

3. To prepare the hearts of Tristen and Clay and to get them through the waiting precess as well. These two sweet boys, who from the day they found out that we were adopting a sister for them from Africa, they haven't stoped asking when she will be here.

4.To prepare Kim and I for the long process of getting a new daughter. We haven't stopped asking each other when she will be here.

5. Finally--Please pray for finances. God has already provided unexpected finances for this adoption process and we know , as always, God will continue to provide.

Just in the last two weeks we have begun the process. The begining of the process has consisted of a lot of paperwork, the international home study and other legal forms. These two things together will cost $2000.00, and we are confident that God will provide this.

We love you all and as soon as we have updates on the process we will let you know every detail.

Thank you for loving us and praying for us. We love you.

Rob, Kim, Tristen, and Clay

P.S. She will be here before you know it!
